Abstract

Identification of cognitive basic abilities and the development of wetland-based chemical modules have been carried out. The objectives to be achieved are (1) knowing the level of cognitive abilities of students, (2) knowing the tendency of students' learning styles, and (3) the preparation of wetland-based chemical modules with the level of difficulty in accordance with the cognitive ability of students' learning styles. Using a descriptive method with a quantitative approach and Rasch Model analysis technique, continued with the development using the Plomp Model which produces wetland-based chemistry learning modules. The sample used was 50% of students from each school with a population of all high school students in Banjarmasin. The results showed that students' basic cognitive abilities varied with an average of relatively weak based on a logit value of -0.99. Student learning styles tend to be spatial learning styles shown from their ability to interpret chemical material in a representation manner. The concept of chemical representation and local wisdom integrated into the product is a form of renewal in learning chemistry, where learning chemistry requires spatial intelligence so that this research can be a reference on how to help students learn chemistry with the perspective of wetlands and the concept of representation. Also, this research becomes a reference for teachers to design learning according to students' learning needs.
