Abstract

Fulfillment of goat feed in the dry season is a serious obstacle for goat farmers in Ujung Batu Village, Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan. Generally during the dry season, many grasses are dry and dead, so goat breeders find it difficult to feed goats. So far, goat feed in the form of fresh grass every day. While in the village, there are many agricultural wastes in wetlands in the form of rice straw and corncob. This is because majority from Ujung Batu Village are farmers. The raising of goats is a side business. So far these two agricultural wastes have just been thrown away, not utilized at all. More often rice straw is burned, after rice harvest. In the research that has been done, rice straw and corn stalks are processed into fermented goat feed to overcome the problem of goat feed. The material used consists of the main raw materials (rice straw and corncob) and mixed ingredients (bran, brown sugar, EM4, water, and sugar cane). The raw material mixture between rice straw and corn stalk is 3: 1, or 75 kg of straw mixed with 25 kg of corncob. Both raw materials are chopped / ground and mixed with i-GITA machines. The i-GITA machine is a fermented goat feed making machine produced by the authors of 2017. Every 100 kg of raw material is given a mixture of 10 kg bran, 100 gr brown sugar, 200 ml EM4, 10 kg sugar cane, and 30 lt water. After all the ingredients are mixed, the fermentation process is then carried out in a sealed barrel or plastic drum. The fermentation process is carried out for 7 days. The fermented feed that has been made is a solution for goat farmers in Ujung Batu Village, both during the dry season or for farmers who do not want to transmit every day. It's enough to make fermented feed, can be used for one month.
