Abstract

Research has been carried out on the types of dragonflies (Odonata) as predators of rice pest insects in tidal rice fields which are applied with herbicide paraquat dihlorida. The aim of the study was to study the existence of different types of dragonflies after weeds in tidal rice fields were given herbicide treatment. The study was conducted in the Balandean tidal rice fields in Barito Kuala Regency, South Kalimantan  on December 2015 - May 2016. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design, with treatment given, without the application of herbicides as a control, application of herbicides 1.5 liters / ha, 2 l / ha, 2.5 liters / ha and 3 liters / ha with five replications. In each experimental plot, dragonfly species were captured using insect nets and visual observations (after the application was carried out), then identified and recorded the number of individuals according to species and family and their relative abundance. Identification is carried out at the Entomology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lambung Mangkurat. Identification is done using the book reference Australian's Dragonflies, Dragonflies and Damselflies of Peninsular India and Te Complete Field Guide to Dragonflies of Australia. The results of the study found 4 families and 9 species of Odonata orders which were divided into two sub-orders of Zygoptera and Anisoptera. Odonata abundance obtained as many as 122 individu while the highest species abundance was Orthetrum sabina (32 individu) and the lowest was Lestes pictus (1 individul). The first highest relative abundance in the species Orthetrum sabina (26.23%), both Orthetrum serapia (22.131%) of the sub-order Anisoptera, and the highest abundance of Zygoptera or needle dragonfly orders of Ischnura senegalensis and Phasmoneura exiqua species was (8.197%).
