Abstract

Research that uses photographic techniques has not been widely developed and used to conduct ecological approaches in determining the status conditions of mangrove ecosystem communities. The advantage of using photographic methods is that the results of research obtained are more accurate, have strong evidence and can be analyzed properly in measuring the status of degradation and the status of mangrove ecosystem in an area. This research was conducted in the mangrove ecosystem area of Takisung Subdistrict, Tanah Laut Regency, from May to October 2018. The approach used in this study is the hemispherical photograph approach used to determine the percentage of canopy cover of mangrove ecosystems. Observation of mangrove species in the study location found 12 species of mangroves in all station plots. The mangroves types is Rhizopora apiculata, Rhizopora mucronata, Avicennia marina, Avicennia officinalis, Avicennia rumphiana, Avicennia alba, Sonneratia alba, Sonneratia caseolaris, Bruguiera cylindrica, Bruguiera sexangula, Ceriops tagal, dan Nypa fruticans. The results of the analysis showed that the percentage of mangrove cover was 75.73 percent with good solid criteria based on the Environmental Decree Number 201 of 2004
