KAJIAN PENGELOLAAN BERKELANJUTAN KHDTK AEK NAULI DALAM MENDUKUNG UPAYA KONSERVASI LINGKUNGAN DI KAWASAN DANAU TOBA, SUMATERA UTARA

Abstract

The diversity of ecosystems and biodiversity contained within the Kawasan Hutan Dengan Tujuan Khusus (KHDTK) Aek Nauli or Forest Area With Special Purpose, making KHDTK Aek Nauli one of the tourist spots that can increase the popularity of the Lake Toba region as a priority destination for Indonesia's national tourism today. KHDTK Aek Nauli is one of the KHDTK appointed and determined by the government through Minister of Forestry Decree Number 39/Menhut-II/2005 dated 7 February 2005 covering 1.900 ha. This paper aims to identify the problems that arise in the management of KHDTK Aek Nauli and formulate the concept of KHDTK Aek Nauli management solutions by The Environmental and Forestry Research and Development Institute (BP2LHK Aek Nauli). Based on the identification results, it is known that BP2LHK Aek Nauli together with other relevant stakeholders have not been able to carry out synergistic and integrated KHDTK Aek Nauli management activities especially in commercializing scientific tourism activities (such as Jungle Tracking, Aek Nauli Elephant Conservation Camp (ANECC), Aek Nauli Beecosystem, Monkey Forest and Andeer Park) within the KHDTK Aek Nauli area. That is because there is no specific institution that handles the commercialization of scientific tourism activities. The role of government is needed in the effort to establish a special institution that manages KHDTK Aek Nauli, so that the goal of developing KHDTK Aek Nauli is achieved.
