Abstract

Tidal swamps have the potential and great opportunity for the development of agricultural businesses as well as for increasing farmers' incomes. These potentials and opportunities can be actualized by carrying out land management activities based on their characteristics. Generally in the tidal land area, the arrangement of the land using the surjan system, but in the manufacture of surjans requires a lot of labor and capital. Therefore, farmers start making surjan by making rised bed, each year the riseds is raised and joined together so that in a long time it becomes a long ridge or surjan.Productivity of rised bed soils varies each year, so that the productivity of plants growing on it also varies and tends to decrease. The decline in productivity of agricultural crops in this support may be due to changes in soil characteristics such as pH, CEC,C-organic and nutrients. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of in situ organic matter application in rised bed soil of different ages to changes in pH, CEC and soil C organic content. This research uses factorial completely randomized design with 2 factors, factor I is the age of the support soil (2, 5 dan 10 years), and factor II is the type organik matter insitu (control, rice straw, purun tikus and kayu apu). The results showed that the application of organic matter to rised bed soils of different ages had an influence on pH and CEC but did not affect the soil C organic content.
