Abstract


Landscape character and anthropogenic activity are two important factors that influence the conservation of shellfish (Polymesoda erosa) as food chain feeder filters and drivers of the economic system on the coast. The purpose of this research is to identify the character of landscape and anthropogenic activity on the conservation of shellfish in the coast of Tabanio Village, Takisung District, Tanah Laut Regency. The results showed that there are 7 types of landscape in Coastal Village of Tabanio Village covering settlement, rice field, plantation, grave, sleep field, office, and other public infrastructure. The largest use of landscaping is dominated by rice fields (34 percent), sleeping land (33 percent) and settlements (29 percent), while the smallest use is grave (0.2 percent). There are five types of anthropogenic activities that threaten the conservation of shellfish in Tabanio Village : (1) Wild hunting of wildlife, (2) Incorporating exotic species of plants and animals into the area, (3) Damaging, picking, cutting and destroying plants and animals in and from the region, (4) and animals in the area, and (5) Change the landscape that interfere with the life of plants and animals. The two most frequent activities of the people in Tabanio Village are destruction, harvesting, felling, and destruction of plants and animals in and from the region (87.7 percent) and poaching of wild animals (81 percent). While the lowest activity is making a hole that disrupts plants and animals in the region (37 percent). The average acquisition of the entire population of Tabanio Village from the hunting of shellfish per year is 3960 kg and the selling price of Rp5,000 per kilogram then the gross revenue is Rp19.800.000.
