Abstract

One of the benefit of cellulolytic bacteria is to increasing the digestibility of organic matter through cellulosic biodegradation in fish feed. One of the potential sources of cellulolitic bacteria is the decayed wood on the mangroves. This study aims to isolate and identify isolate of cellulolytic bacteria from decayed wood on mangrove in Sungailiat, Bangka and Tukak Sadai districts, South Bangka regency. Bacteria Isolated with selective media with agar that enriched 1% Carboxymetyl Cellulose (CMC). The qualitative test of cellulolytic bacteria is done by dripping iodin to bacterial isolate colonies with clear zone as indicator of cellulose degradation ability. There were 36 bacterial isolates identified at the both mangrove samples. Bacterial isolates with the greatest cellulosic degradation were identified through biochemical tests and the results indicated were Bacillus pumilus in Sungailiat and Bacillus alvei in the Tukak Sadai mangroves.
