Kajian kesesuaian lahan untuk tanaman hortikultura di Desa Ampukung, Kecamatan Kelua, Kabupaten Tabalong, Provinsi Kalimantan Selatan
Abstract
Land suitability investigation based on evaluation land characterization/quality parameters are considered necessary in developing horticulture crop in Ampukung non-tidal swamp in order toachieve optimal land use toward sutainable food security. This research aimed to evaluate actual and potential land suitability leveland their restraint factors for horticulture agriculture in non-tidal swamp of Ampukung Kelua Tabalong. Soils were sampling in the sunken and raised bed areas of of Ampukung, Watun I and Watun II. To attain the soil physical and chemical properties for land characterization, soil samples were analyzed in the field and laboratory with standard prosedures. Furthermore, the lands was classified based on their suitabilities. The study found that actual land suitability for 15 horticulture plants was S3 (marginal suitable) to not suitable (N). Pineapple, zalacca palm, watermelon, banana, red pepper, tomato, pumpkin, leafy vegetable, chikpea, and four-sided bean were at the level of subclass S3, nr, cucumber, stringbeans and spinach S3,wa;nr,with the limited factors are high rain and lof of soil pH. Shallot have S3,rc subclass (Watun I) and N,wa subclass (watun II and III), which meant the land was not suitable for shallot. The limit factor of soil pH could be ameliorated with the application of lime, whilst the exess of water could be corrected with raised bed development and drainage improvement.
