Abstract

South Kalimantan is one of the provinces in Indonesia which has a variety of medicinal plants, especially plants that grow in wetlands. However, majority of people prefer to use modern medicines made from chemicals rather than choosing traditional medicines when they are sick. This happens because of the lack of public knowledge about traditional medicinal plants and from an early age the community has never been introduced directly about the benefits of traditional medicinal plants. Children who live in urban areas are relatively unaware of the types of traditional medicinal plants and their use to cure diseases. The CINAMON (Cinta Tanaman Obat Tradisional) Program is an interactive program with the aim of introducing children's knowledge and passion for traditional medicinal plants from an early age. The target of this program are students of State Primary School 3 Comets grades 2,3 and 4. The school was chosen based on its location in an urban area, where urban children still rarely know and utilize traditional medicinal plants, and the schools’ curriculum programs is in accordance with the community service program, which is an environment-based curriculum. The planned stages of program are (1) Introduction of medicinal plants to students using interactive visual media methods, and (2) Planting and revitalizing medicinal plantations in the TOGA gardens of the school grounds. The CINAMON program was carried out on October 12, 2019. The introduction of medicinal plants carried out by the interactive visual media method and demonstration were proven to be able to increase the knowledge of students in grades 2, 3, and 4. The results of the pre-test scores compared with the post-test scores showed an increase in knowledge of 46.55 % for grade 2 students, 97.83% for grade 3 students, and 73.15% for grade 4 students
