Abstract

Tabatan is a small village located on the banks of the Barito River with ahead of the household of less than 300 families. The village provides an overview of the dynamic changes in the economic structure of the villagers with the entry of large-scale oil palm plantations. In the name of modernization, a company imposes fundamental changes to the subsistence villagers. This gives rise to various consequences in everyday life. The consequences can be both constructive and destructive, depending on the mindset of the villagers. This study looks for a meaning of change that occurs on the condition of natural objects. Qualitative method is used as a guide to obtain objective results
