Abstract

One of the most crucial landfill land requirements that must be met is water-resistant soil. Seeing the condition of the area of South Kalimantan which is mostly lowland and wetlands makes the problem of improper landfill management a crucial problem that must be addressed where a solution is needed to manage waste by reducing from upstream to downstream. The existence of a large number of scavengers has not been utilized. This study examines aspects of the environmental burden that can be reduced from waste reduction by scavengers in the form of greenhouse gas emissions from scavengers in TPA Basirih in waste processing. The value of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by scavenger activities in this study was assessed using Waste Reduction Model. in 2014, the percentage of waste reduction by scavengers in TPA Basirih is 4.65% with the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is 58.90%. While in 2015 the reduction of waste by scavengers is 3.55% with the percentage reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is 39.973%. In 2016 waste reduction by scavengers was 3.63% with a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is 40.80%. In 2016 waste reduction by scavengers amounted to 4.76% with a percentage reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of 53.52%. And in 2018 waste reduction by 4.69% with the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 53.84%. The greater the reduction of waste from scavenger activities at the Banjarmasin Basirih landfill in South Kalimantan, the greater the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
